Accident at work fell on beer barrel, out of work with injuries, is restaurant liable?

I fell at work after having to climb on beer barrels to get to the wine bottles, I tripped and fell and the wine bottle broke and the sharp broken glass left me needing stitches in my hands and could of been a lot worse, could have cut my throat and face, I am not sure if the whole incident was reported in the pub accident book.

Climbing on the barrels was standard practice in the bar/restaurant where I am employed, there were no step ladders, I had no training and people had been climbing up there for years, I don't know exactly what happened it all happened so quickly. I asked if I could see the cctv camera footage to see exactly what happened and they told me there wasn't any in the cellar, I haven't been back to work yet because my hand is still tender and not fully functional, its swollen and still got stitches in.

Will a claim affect my job? I don't want to get fired because I have friends a who are co workers, but Ive lost wages and need compo for loss of earnings and I deserve to claim compensation for the severity of my injuries anyway.
