Accident at workplace severley injured foot and unable to work, can I claim against employer?

My partner injured his foot in accident at work and was off for a few weeks, the accident involved unsafe practises by his employer and another person not holding onto a wrench to undo a lorry tyre, he spoke to his manager and they said it wasn't worth pursuing an personal injuries claim, is this correct?

My partner had to undo a nut on the lorry tyre that would not budge, so a workmate was supposed to hold the wrench tight to the nut whilst my partner jumped to release it, this is what they were told to do by their boss, but the lad wasn't concentrating on the task at hand so wasn't holding the wrench tight to the nut like he was supposed to and the wrench slipped my partner fell and one foot landed on a ramp and forced his foot to be bent upwards causing severe tendon and ligament damage with a terrible ankle sprain, he had to keep his foot up for nearly 3 months out work and in agonising pain.

I think we deserve compensation and the company is lying, are they liable for my husbands personal injuries sustained at work? and if we do make a claim against them, how much money would be paid out for injuries and loss of earnings? And If i claim through LegalExpert.co.uk does he get phisio therapy for his injuries?
