Can I claim compensation for a bacterial infection from surgery from an NHS hospital?

I had an operation in an NHS hospital, surgery and got a plate and 6 screws placed on my arm but after 3 months my wound wouldn't heal and got infected so the doctor decided to take out the screws thinking my body rejects the metal, when the screws were removed they found a rare bacteria infection from the hospital on them that was affecting my skin and tissue regeneration.

The opening has still not healed and they propose to do a new complicated surgery which implies taking muscle from my inner upper arm and place it on the forearm wound plus a possible removal of part of my bone that was affected by the infection.

Can I claim compensation for medical negligence for all the suffering and pain I have gone through?

How much compensation could I claim for an infection from surgery?
