Can I claim compensation for a chemical burn received from employers product at work?

I would like to find out if i can make a claim for work related injuries from my employer.

I got an big wound from cleaning chemicals while cleaning a house about a month ago but the wound is not healing properly and I could be left with scars.

The company I worked for as a self employed cleaner provided me with the cleaning material and they said that their products is so safe to use that even child could drink and nothing would happen and they did not do any COSH training.

They did not provide me with any PPE even though I asked for it and it happened that the chemical they made me clean the clients property with dropped on my jeans, making a wound through the material and into my skin.

It was a very agonisingly painful chemical burn, I was all alone and had to strip off my self and try and clean it off, it was very distressing.

I have been to the doctor who said that chemical burns are particularly nasty and I should have had more protective clothing on, but it was my boss who wold me what to do and what to use.
