Can I claim compensation for an accident at work after tripping on a pothole in a school?

I am a teacher and I have had an accident at work that was not my fault.
I tripped and fell and a pot hole in the yard and injured my knee, I went to hospital in an ambulance and was told I had a fractured knee cap, how much could I claim?

How big would the pot hole have to be for me to claim compensation?
