Can I claim compensation for an electric shock from faulty electronics?

I am employed in a workshop and I suffered a severe electric shock because another employee repaired some wiring and left it unsafe, I was not aware of this and got a nasty lecky shock from the faulty electronics, I have got broken skin and some burns, is this something I can claim for?
Would my employer or co worker be liable?
