Can I claim compensation for burns from a machine at work?

I have suffered burns to both of my arms at work using a machine I had to training for, I have reported this in the accident book at work and I have been to A & E, how do I go about making a claim against my employer?
How much compensation can I get for extensive burns to both forearms?
