Can I claim compensation for medical negligence for misdiagnosis of lung cancer?

I have been getting tests in and out of hospital for my chest, for a while ive been told I had emphysema or COPD, but recently Ive found out I have had lung cancer and because the doctors have missed chances to identify and treat it, it has spread and is a lot worse than it should have been, can I claim compensation for medical negligence? How much could I be entitled to for misdiagnosis of cancer?
