Can I claim compensation for medical negligence resulting in the death of my father in a NHS hospital?
My father just passed away in an NHS hospital and I am trying to find out if I have any chance of a claim for negligence as he was only 55.
The problem originally was his arm, he went in with blocked arteries in his arm, which they amputated and was healed fine and stitches taken out.
I have the medical cert and it says cause of death is pneumonia, chronic heart disease (which he never had) and acute kidney injury, all which was gained in the hospital anyway plus hospital infections made him very unwell.
There was one incident where the doctor prescribed him medication and it was not done for a whole day and he became very unwell because of it. Also on top of this they said the direct cause of death was when they put water through his feeding tube which directly resulted in his death through water going straight on to his lungs and he drowned.
One other thing do I have to register the death at the town hall, is it okay for me to do this ? or do I need to wait till I have a no win no fee solicitor I am not sure.
