Can I claim compensation for neglect of duty of care after I was assaulted by an employee who had done it before?

I was assaulted by one of my co workers a year ago through no fault of my own, I suffered only minor injuries, black eye and some bruises but I also found out this co worker had done this before and I am wondering if I can claim compensation from my employer for endangerment?
