Can I claim compensation for negligent endangerment for carbon monoxide exposure?

I would like to claim compensation from my local council or housing association for endangerment.

I've had carbon monoxide in the house, I know because the alarm had been going off and we have had the gasman around to inspect it, I've not been the hospital with my partner or the kids because thankfully no one suffered severe carbon monoxide poisoning.

I'm jus wondering what I need to do even though I am getting it fixed today, the man who inspected the boiler said the gas board would fix the problem but really the council or landlord of the property were negligent for leaving one of these old faulty boilers in use, and had endangered us all to potentially fatal carbon monoxide poisoning.

I cant really sleep easy at night anymore, knowing how close you can be to death and just how dangerous the boiler was and it was someone's responsibility to prevent exposure to CO2 yet it happened.

Can I claim compensation against or sue the council or association for endangerment through CO2 exposure?

How much money could I be entitled to for negligence like this?
