Hey can you help, I had an accident that was not fault, I slipped and fell down slippery public steps in my council flats block.
Where I live in my council flat there is a lot that needs sorting out and I have already reported to them that the lights do not work in the hallways and also that the front door wont close months ago.
When leaving for work the other day it was very dark and slippy as the moisture from frost gets in from the open door overnight and I slipped down a flight of stairs and fell on my back and bottom.
I was really hurt and in pain so I went to a&e in an ambulance, I have had to have X-rays and have badly bruised my back and fractured my coccyx.
This has resulted in me needing time off work for 3 weeks was the prognosis of the doctor.
I think the council are liable for negligence for leaving the public stairway in a dangerous and hazardous state.
Can I claim compensation from the council for negligence for a slip & fall down public stairs?
