Can I claim for a chemical burn?

I work in a kitchen and someone had left a bottle of chemicals on the side with no lid on. I walked past through the kitchen and have knocked this bottle all over me, now i have burns on my legs and have been struggling to walk for a few weeks. I can't afford to be off any longer at all but the pain is still really bad, can i ask my boss to pay me my wages that i've ended up losing because this really isn't my fault at all.

Hi Hicurang, really sorry to hear that, people are pretty careless in the workplace it seems! If you wanted to put in an injury claim for the burn you absolutely can, it would go against your workplace's insurance and not the employer direct so don't worry about it coming back on you because that shouldn't happen at all.
With your wages not every company gives full sick pay unfortunately and most only deal with SSP, might be worth having a chat with your manager/boss and see what they say. If they can't pay you and you do end up with just SSP you can look to claim for loss of earnings to so any wages you've lost whilst recovering alongside the claim for the injury.
Hope you feel better soon
