Can I claim back wages as loss of earnings if I was off work because I had an accident on the job and did not receive sick pay?
I am a veterinary student in London and work at a dog kennels and as you can imagine I eventually got bit and I had to take time off- but wasn't paid, it's not in my contract to get paid for sick time, but a accident at work is different to getting sick isn't it? What can I do?
It was a big dog, hard to control and I was left to deal with it all on my own, it also should have had a mussel on but did not, it jumped up and bit me on the arm, I reported the incident to management and it's in the accident book
The bite itself was not witnessed, but the aftermath of it was, things to bare in mind is there was no first aiders on site and I wasn't trained what to do in the scenario.
I had to go to hospital and get stitches and I am anxious about going back to work, how much compensation could I be entitled to?
And if I do make a claim would there be a charge for your services, how much would it be? I'm not sure I could afford it
