Can I claim if inured at work with no PPE?

Hi, I recently broke three toes in work dropping some stone pieces on my foot by accident. I work for a company that chips stones/cement/etc and was moving a piece of stone off one of the belts when I dropped it and it landed on my foot. My employer are supposed to supply safety boots which they did at first, but I've worked there for along time now and requested new safety boots because mine were torn and not secure. I hadn't received the new ones when this happened as the office said there was a delay but I should just work in normal boots instead, so it's typical this has happened when they haven't given me the right safety equipment!

Would this affect a claim at all, not wearing the proper PPE safety boots??

Hey Thentrals. Sorry to hear that, seems like your employer has been pretty negligent here to me. You definitely shouldn't have been allowed to work without the right safety boots on. It wouldn't affect the claim at all, you were doing as you were told and it's not your fault they hadn't got the order in or had any spares lying around for you
