Can I still claim compensation for an RTA if my insurance has paid out for repairs to my vehicle?

I was in a road traffic accident, another driver went and crashed into the back of my car and done some damage to the rear bumper, I first priority was getting the car fixed but since then I have still been suffering from back and neck pain and I think I have whiplash, can I still hire a solicitor to claim compensation for my injuries or do I need to go through the insurance?
