i have broken me finger on the job and it wasn't my fault, would i be able to claim compo for an injury like this?
i have previously had a injury at work about month ago and I have not been able to return for a few weeks and lost a lot of wages, the severity of my injury is a lot worse than my employers are giving credit for and I think they are trying to cover their own back.
I work on the container ships down on the docks and have done for years, I am fully trained and fully qualified and an experienced worker, but last week my finger was crushed in an accident at work because of poor health and safety practices by the management, a container door, which is supposed to be tied safely with rope or chains according to proper protocol, was left to swing shut n its own, this is dangerous as the doors are heavy and build up momentum, so when I small gust of wind came it slammed the door shut with such force on my hand it completely crushed my finger.
the boss said its just broken and said id be back to normal soon, but X rays have shown that its going to take a long time to heal and will never be the same again.
How much can I get for permanent injuries suffered in an accident at work at work because of poor health and safety?
If I lose my claim in court could my former employee sue me for legal fees or solicitor costs?
