Hi Sara
Thank you for your question!
Firstly, we're sorry to hear of your car accident and injuries and hope you're on the way to a full recovery.
You can of course recover all of the costs you listed, but only if you keep hold of your receipts. Without evidence, it will be difficult to persuade a defendant to pay them.
When it comes to calculating your car accident compensation, the best way to look at things is to split them into two heads of claim.
First, you have general damages. This is compensation specifically intended to pay you for the pain and suffering caused by the injuries, as well as the impact they've had on your quality of life. How much you receive will depend on the severity of your injuries. General damages are often valued with reference to a very handy publication called the Judicial College Guidelines.
The other part of a claim is called special damages. This relates to financial losses you may have sustained, like your replacement car and getting your own car fixed. You can also claim back lost earnings if you had to take unpaid time off work, travel costs, and any medication costs—even for over the counter medication like paracetamol.
As well as claiming back costs you've had to pay out, you can also claim back any costs you might incur down the line, such as if your injuries will stop you from going back to work.
If you're at all unsure about this, the best thing to do is to speak to our friendly team of advisers. You can get in touch with them by using the live chat box, which you can see bottom right. Don't forget to ask about our No Win No Fee claims bonus! If you'd rather chat by phone,

I hope that helps!
