Hi there

Some idiot has just driven into the back of my car. Luckily I had my foot on the brake because he nearly sent me forward into another car.

My neck is really sore now and I want to make a claim. Can you tell me how much can I get for whiplash?

If you haven't already done so, I'd advise you to go to either your GP or local walk-in centre for a check-up, just to be sure that you haven't suffered more serious harm.

As to how much you could get for a whiplash claim, it all depends on the severity. If we look at the Judicial College Guidelines, which personal injury solicitors use to value claims, a minor neck injury that heals within around 3 months could see you get up to £2,300.

For whiplash injuries that take longer to heal—between 3 months and a year—you could be awarded between £2,300 and £4,080. More serious whiplash injuries could see you get up to £7,410, according to the JC Guidelines.
