I had a trip and fall accident on a pot hole in the road, the hole was about 2 inches deep and I have pictures with measurements, can I claim compensation for my injuries?

As a result I have severely broken my ankle and have to get surgery to implant steel screws into the bone, how much compensation could I claim for injuries like this?
