How much compensation can I receive for stitches on my finger from a work related injury?

Am I entitled to anything as I injured my finger at work and bruised both my arms with the ridiculous amount of heavy lifting involved?

I work in a warehouse and I've only been there a few days as its through agency but I'm uncomfortable with the weight of the items they ask us to carry by hand, It's straining my back and bruising my arms.

Would I get dropped from the agency if I claimed for work related injuries?

When I started they asked me if I have had manual training before in my induction, which I have but I've not been given any proper training in this place. They just took me into a warehouse and just told me to unload the trucks.

They asked me to a carry a package off a truck which was too heavy for me. I was struggling to place it into a storage and the package trapped my finger and split it open, it was bleeding non stop for an hour.

Ive been to the walk in centre to seek treatment, they used butterfly stitches and iodine strips and bandaged it up, but if it starts bleeding again I will need proper stitches.

How much compensation could I receive for stitches on my finger?

Thank you for your enquiry.

I am sorry to read of this unfortunate incident.

I am pleased to advise you that you can in fact make a claim for personal injury in these circumstances. Employers have a duty to ensure that you are properly trained for the tasks your job role demands. If your employer has failed to train you appropriately, they have failed in their duty to keep you safe whilst at work.

In terms of your employment position; pursuing a claim against your employer or in your case, an employment agency, does not give an employer the right to dismiss you. In fact, you cannot by law, be treated any differently by your employer as a result of pursuing a personal injury claim. In truth, companies have employers liability insurance for this very reason, therefore, if you have been involved in an accident at work that wasn’t your fault, you have every right to pursue a personal injury claim.

In relation to your question regarding the amount of compensation you will receive, this is entirely dependent upon medical evidence. Medical evidence is obtained to both prove causation (the injuries were sustained as a direct result of the incident that has occurred) and provide a basis upon which we as your legal representative can accurately place a valuation upon your claim. If it has left any scarring your claim can be worth around £3,000 upwards.
