I am a porter for the NHS, I work in a hospital and I’ve had a minor injury due to my employer’s negligence, the surgeons left a sharp object out that should have been disposed of after use and I cut my hand.
It was a scalpel blade that was left on the side of a sink, the blade blended in with the surface and I put my hand down and it cut my palm
Although it is only minor and only causes a bit of stinging, I feel like a lot more care should have been taken and I was put at risk of infection. Can I receive compensation for endangerment, is it worth doing anything?
I am not sure who it was that left the scalpel there but I feel like the accident was not my fault and could have been a lot worse.
Also could I lose my job with the NHS if I make a claim for work related injuries?
Thanks
