How much compensation could I received for a broken finger at work?

Alan

Hello I was wondering how much compensation I could receive for a work related finger injury.

I crushed/broke the tip of my middle finger at work about a month ago and I was checking in to see from your experience what would my compensation be roughly?

I am a scaffolder and we were unloading some poles from the truck but they had not been tied down properly and a bunch of them rolled off and I got the tip of my finger between some poles before I could move my hand out the way.

I carried on working but my finger was in agony, now its bruised and swollen up, the finger nail has come off and I had to go the walk in and missed work?

Would my colleague lose his job if I made a claim for compensation because he was at fault?

I need some free legal advice

Thanks

Hi Alan,

Thank you for your enquiry.

It sounds as though you certainly are entitled to make a claim, and your colleague would not lose his job.

Your employers Insurance company would deal with your Solicitors directly. This is why companies have insurance.

We would have to obtain what is known as a medico-legal report to support any claim for personal injury compensation. This is a straight forward process and we would take care of this and arrange the appointment for you. Once we have that report we would know how much your claim is likely to be worth. Generally speaking it depends on how long it takes you to recover. If, say, it took you around 12 months to make a recovery from the finger injury sustained in the accident then you could receive around £7,000.00.

We would support you throughout the whole process.
