Hurt in work site accident recorded as near miss, can I claim compensation for injuries?

Hi i had a fall at work as, i work on building site scaffolding and there was a gap on the scaffold that my foot went straight down down. I had grazed my arm wrist leg and knee, i took photos of both the gap and my injuries on my phone, I asked the site manager to record it in accident book but he said he would only record it as a near miss and so I did not seek medical attention, I think he was worried about liability and didn't want me to sue the company for my injuries, watching his own back, but now my wrist is swollen and probably fractured and I have bruising round my knee and a limp so I can not work for the next few days to a week so I'm going to lose wages too
can I still claim compensation for my accident? Also I am worried I could be laid off for trying to claim against my employer, if this happens could I claim money back for loss of earning too?
