Hurt on site but not recorded in accident book, can i still claim compensation?

When I was working as a labourer in my last job lifting heavy objects my arm gave way and I now have nerve damage in my right arm which I'm awaiting a operation on but it never got put in a accident book can I still claim? I'm awaiting a operation now to get it sorted
