I injured my hand at work and was not provided with gloves, can I claim compensation?

I was working on site and tore my hand open on some broken glass, I had not been provided with any gloves or personal protective equipment, PPE from my employer and had to go hospital and get stitches, can I claim compensation for this hand injury?
