I was making my way back home when I reached the crossing. As I was checking for traffic before crossing the road I felt an object hit the left side of my body, upon impact I fell into the road on all fours to which the van continued to reverse over me at a gradual speed.
I took fight or flight instinct and tried to escape but my left leg was trapped as the van had slowly reversed over my leg.
I started bang on the van to let the driver know of my presence, however his was not successful and with luck one of the staff who works at one of the shops directly opposite where this incident took place was able to see the van reversing over me and she knew that if she didn't intervene that he would have definitely driven over me completely, so she ran to the driver to alert him what was going on and then he stopped.

The police and ambulance were called to the scene and there are witnesses now how do I take this further? This has been a horrific ordeal and injuried me mentally with trauma as well as physically.

Hi Brothad, sorry to hear this happened to you. If you are looking to take this further as you say you can contact the insurer of the van to begin a claim for injury. If you don't have the insurance details you can contact the police with the incident date and details and they can provide you the reg and insurance.
Once you have them you can contact them to begin your claim, when making a claim they will take into account the mental aspect of the injury along with the physical injury. If you feel it might be a bit of an overwhelming process to deal with the claim yourself (which would be understandable given what happened) you can always contact a personal injury solicitor to this on your behalf. They would more than likely take a percentage fee out of the final compensation amount to cover their own legal costs and enquiries on your behalf but this is a very common way to proceed with a claim as it does relieve you of the stress of doing it yourself.
