Indicated changing lanes and I was hit in rear end, can I claim compensation?

I was hit from behind by another driver while i was changing lanes, I used my indicators but the driver was in my blind spot and I didnt see him, I was hit pretty hard and hurt my self and damaged my car, can I make a claim for damages?
