My gf and I was involved in a car accident yesterday where someone went into the back of my car

wanting some advice and understand what next steps could be, We were on the motorway and were coming off a junction and there was a lot of traffic so it was stop and start as we were coming off, our car was stationary when I saw the car behind about 20+metres away come and hit us, the driver was looking at his sat nav and didn't realise we had stopped in the traffic ahead.
