Need advice regarding a dog bite at work

Polday

New Member
I was bitten by a dog at work and need advice.
I am a homecare assistant and was bitten in the leg by a client’s dog, whom of which I was previously told would not be in the house. His teeth punctured my leg which has caused bruising, swelling and nerve damage. Additionally, I have loss of earnings from not being able to walk or drive properly and have psychological trauma.
Many thanks.

Hi Polday, sorry to hear that. There may be a few different options for you regarding making a claim; the first is you might be able to claim against your employer for this as they have failed to maintain that the dog would not be in the house as you were told. The second option would be if the dog is insured you might be able to make a claim against the dogs insurance but that would mean putting it against the client you help. I would recommend speaking to an employment injury solicitor and see what they say.
