I recently badly scalded my leg with boiling water recently at work and I'm sure it will leave a scar on the top part of my thigh and I'm in a lot of discomfort and pain, I was working in the kitchen where I work at a bar, I was cleaning cutlery in a container of boiling water it fell off an uneven surface from the worktop, spilled on to my leg and scolded me through my uniform, I always though the work environment was unsafe with slippery surfaces and floors anyway, I am especially up set with the disfiguring scars I will have on my leg and I have been out of work for a week.
Will I able to claim compensation for an accident at work like this and if so what amount of pay out can I expect?
Also will i have to discuss with my line manager first before making a claim about a personal injury at work? will my employer have to pay for damages and will I be laid off for taking legal action?
