What is a no win no fee agreement?

Hello

I have had a car accident and spoken to a solicitor who told me about a no win no fee agreement, but they did not explain it to me very well and I am worried that they might not know what they are doing. Can you please tell me what a no win no fee agreement is?

Many thanks

Imran

Hi Imran

I'm so sorry to hear of your car accident and also your negative experience with that solicitor. Don't worry, you don't have to use them if you don't want to. Let me tell you what a No Win No Fee agreement is first and then a little about how we can help you.

A No Win No Fee agreement, which is also referred to as a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA), is the contract between you and your personal injury solicitor. One of the key terms of this contract is that if your solicitor does not succeed in recovering compensation, you will not have to pay any of their fees.

In addition to this, you will not have to pay any fees to get the claim started, nor will you have to pay any fees while the case is ongoing.

If the claim does succeed, your No Win No Fee solicitor will deduct a small percentage of the compensation awarded to cover their fees. This percentage is known as a success fee and is capped by law, so you need not worry about losing a large portion of your compensation.

So, in short, you have nothing to pay unless your claim is a success, and in that case, a small fee is deducted from your compensation.

I hope that's clearer for you! If you'd like to connect with a solicitor who knows what they're doing, send us a message via our live chat, bottom right. Our helpful advisers can answer any more questions you have and connect you to one of our expert solicitors today. They could even offer you a No Win No Fee bonus code! Good luck!
