My eye has been burnt at work

Hi. I work in a chemical plant and have walked through a side door as the main door to the lab was locked and there was a forklift that was left unsupervised that had a tub hanging from it that contained Aluminium phosphate - this has dripped into my eye due to the tub having a crack in it causing burning sensation and him needing to get it cleaned at hospital.

my workplace has turned around saying that the door had safety barriers and I should not have walked through it - this was not the case.

Hi Tialt. Sorry to hear that happened and your employer's are playing up over it. If you wanted to take it further you could always look at claiming compensation with a soliciotr, they would put a case forward against your employers liability insurance and hopefully be able to get you compensation for the injury to your eye
