Can I claim compensation for an assault by my partner if they were charged with ABH?

My boyfriend attacked me on the weekend, he punched me multiple times in the face and now I look terrible, he was arrested and he is being charged with ABH, would I be able to claim compensation for this?
Do I have to wait for a conviction to claim compensation?

I can only imagine how traumatic this incident must have been.

I am pleased to advise that you would be entitled to make a claim for compensation via the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). The CICA can begin their investigations immediately after a claim has been submitted. We do not need to await a convection as a civil claim is entirely separate from a criminal case.
