Can I claim compensation for burns from a coffee machine on holiday?

I was on an all inclusive package holiday and suffered terrible burns from a coffee machine in the hotel cafeteria, the machine was defective and I have reported this to the hotel, would I be entitled to make a claim? How much compensation could I get for burns from a drinks machine on holiday?
